Are Fidget Spinners Satanic? No, Definitely Not. But This Guy Thinks So

Fidget spinners are literally everywhere: at grocery stores, at Staples, and on every newsstand in New York. The craze over this toy has entranced the youths of America almost as effectively as rock and roll and french kissing, which forces us to ask the question: is the devil behind all of this?

Obviously not. But Evangelical Pastor Juan Mariano Avalos is convinced otherwise.

Avalos is the Pastor of a church called First Christians in Paraguay. On June 20, 2017, Avalos published a video to his facebook page about the infernal spinner. He points out that, as someone uses the spinner, their hands form “the sign of the devil.” He states:

Everyone walking around town, and they start selling these, start making this gesture, this symbol, mocking God. This sign is satanic. [...] Don’t allow this to be used in your homes.

While there is little evidence to prove Avalos’s case, other than semiotics, spinners have indeed declined in popularity since last month, when they reached their peak; on May 5th, fidget spinners accounted for approximately 17% of all units of toys sold online.

The spinners are often advertised as a tool to help individuals with ADHD or autism release their energy, however, there are currently no studies showing any correlation between the use of these toys and ADHD or autism symptom relief.

So, at best, these toys are entertaining. At worst, they’re useless. But, hey! At least you’re not going to hell for using them. 👍
